The Tomorrow Project was written and directed by Steve Busa for the Red Eye Collaboration in Minneapolis, MN in 2000. I created and produced 11 video elements for this production of which Introducing the Future and History of the Future feature in Scenes one and three.
Giselle 2000 was written and performed by Risa Cohen and cast members for the Red Eye Theater, Minneapolis, MN. The attached film/video was part 1 of 5 projected films used to facilitate the narrative of innocent love and betrayal and to introduce one of the actors onto the stage. Thrown By Angels was written by Gwendelyn Schwinke and performed in 2000 at the Red Eye Collaboration, Minneapolis, MN. The film/video clip shown here was one of several projected elements intended to facilitate the narrative of the play (flying onto the stage).
Concept The U.S. Navy Naval Research Laboratory and, later, NASA attempted to launch 11 “Vanguard Project” satellites into Earth orbit between December, 1957 – late 1958. All but three failed. The first to succeed – Vanguard I (which successfully gained low Earth orbit in March, 1958) was derisively labeled by Nikita Khrushchev “The Grapefruit Satellite”
Concept Some early satellites (Explorer I for example) were painted with black and white longitudinal stripes (in part) for thermal regulation. The black adsorbed radiation (heat) and the white reflected radiation.
